Polish philology

In 2000, Polish philology received the quality certificate granted by the University Committee of Accreditation.

Polish philology students can choose between two separate specialities: literary studies and linguistics or "Polish literature and the Polish language in European civilisation". Both of them include classes in the history and theory of literature, contemporary literature, cultural anthropology, knowledge of culture, the contemporary Polish language and the history of the Polish language. Additionally, the speciality "Polish literature and the Polish language in European civilisation" (offered on a full-time basis only) offers classes in philosophy, history, spiritual history, the history of music, and art history. They help to determine the relations between European and Polish literature.

Both specialities offer two basic specialisations (compulsory for all Polish philology students): specialization in literature and specialization in linguistics.

During their studies, student may also choose one of the following six additional professional specialisations:

The speciality: literary studies and linguistics may be studied on a full-time, evening or extra-mural basis.

Postgraduate studies

The Institute of the Polish Language and the Institute of Polish Literature offer the following postgraduate studies:

All the classes are taught in the Polish language.
